Coaching the whole-athlete

To us, you are more than just an athlete. We help you reach your full potential in all aspects of your life. Often times what we struggle with on the court or field shows up in other areas of our lives too. Whether we are afraid of failing, want to be perfect, or care about what others think of us, the obstacles we face in our sport may impact us in other ways too.

In our work together we will explore your emotions, thought patterns, and coping skills on and off the court. We will take a closer look at how you are doing emotionally, physically, socially, and mentally. We will give you strategies to improve not only your performance on the court or field, but in the classroom, in your relationships, and with yourself. We strive to help you become a well-rounded athlete, prepared to tackle the challenges you might face in sports, school, and life so you can perform at your best.

process-Driven strategies

You are more than a number. You are more than your UTR rating, batting average, winning record, goal total, or PRs. Yes, results matter, but the process matters more. These numbers aren’t born overnight. They are made from the hours you put in at practice, in the gym, and in the classroom. Our approach highlights the process over the outcome to build the long-term, lasting results you want.

So, what does it mean to be process-driven vs. outcome-driven? Athletes who focus on the outcome, focus on the “what.” They focus primarily on the final result, like winning the match, rising in the rankings, and beating others. Athletes who focus on the process, focus on the how.” They pay attention to what’s needed to perform at their best such as preparation, technique, tactics, and mental strategies. Athletes who develop the specific actions and strategies needed to perform well are proven to have greater levels of success.

What’s the difference? In contrast to an outcome focus, a process focus is entirely within your control. You can’t control if you win or lose. You can’t control if your opponent is better or worse. But you can control how you think, act, and manage your emotions. Our work together will focus on building the strategies to help you prepare and compete well. And if you perform well, you’re more likely to get the results you want in the first place.

a Values-oriented approach

Now, the work doesn’t just stop there. It’s not just about the “what” or the “how,” its about the “why.” What do you value? Why do you do what you do? Why does this sport matter to you? Why do you train so hard, day after day? Getting to the bottom of these questions is what will ultimately drive you towards achieving your goals.

Burnout is real. When athletes clearly understand their personal “why” behind their goals, they are more likely to stay committed and focused on achieving them, despite the setbacks. In our work together we will identify your personal “why.” We will take a look at your core values and work to align your actions and goals with what’s most important to you. This approach helps you find purpose in what you do, fueling a lifelong love for the game and helping you stay motivated, improve your resiliency, and ultimately, become the person you want to be on and off the court or field.

“tremendous work ethic.”
